2017 Pilgrimage    The Programme

Feel free to join in any part of this programme. You are welcome to share in worship and meals, however you travel.  Footpaths include some stiles and fields, so good footwear is recommended.  We are sorry that dogs cannot be allowed on the walks except Saturday 3rd June.  Lifts available if you need to leave partway through a walk.

Thursday 25th May

12 noon Service of Holy Communion for Ascension Day at St Peter & St Paul’s Church, Mappowder DT10 2EH.  Bring your own packed lunch to eat in the village hall.  2.30pm Afternoon walk to Stoke Wake and return (5 miles, Moderate).  Archdeacon Paul Taylor of Sherborne will join us.





Friday 26th May
Clergy & pilgrims visit local schools.

Sunday 28th May
Services in home parish churches at usual times using common lectionary.

Tuesday 30th May
Day Walk.  9am from Sturminster Mill DT10 2DQ to All Saints, Fifehead Neville Church DT10 2AL (2.5 miles, Easy).  11.15am walk to Ibberton/Belchalwell Village Hall DT11 0EL (2.8 miles, Easy). Bring your own packed lunch to eat in the village hall.  2.30pm walk to Mappowder DT10 2EH (4.2 miles, Moderate).



Wednesday 31st May
10am Meet at St Mary’s Church, Stalbridge DT10 2LR. Morning Prayer and Walk of Witness in Stalbridge.  Refreshments at the Hub, Station Road, Stalbridge.  Skype conversation with Bishop Stephen of Lui, South Sudan.









Thursday 1st June
6.15pm Evening Walk from St Andrew’s, Okeford Fitzpaine DT11 0RD to Okeford Beacon (1.2 miles, Moderate).  7pm Open Air Evening Service at the Beacon. Beacon car park Grid Ref ST 813094. Refreshments.




Saturday 3rd June
Celebration Day.  2.30pm Walk the Trailway from Sturminster Newton DT10 1BD to Shillingstone (3.3 miles, Easy).  Brief stop at Shillingstone Station then children’s activities and barbecue from 4pm at Shillingstone Church Centre DT11 0SW.




Sunday 4th June - Pentecost
10am Covenant Renewal Service at St Mary’s Church, Sturminster Newton DT10 1DB followed by coffee and cake.
